With Sweetest Day upon us, there are a multitude of opportunities to spend a memorable  holiday with not only the one you find the sweetest, but if you are in The “D”, you can spend it SOULFULLY with these events. .

grand-slammOn Thursday. .the Sweetst Day Weekend gets an early start with GRAND SLAMM RECORDS presents “A BENEFIT FOR HBCUS.. a fundraiser concert and rally for students attending Historically Black Colleges and University’s.. with performances from Grand Slamm records artists LB, DION PRICE, BRIA ZHANE and more.. Guest Speaker Ms. LATRESHA R. PRICE will be on hand as well. Proceeds will go to help and aid students with tuition, book vouchers, etc.. In an effort to make the college experience more rewarding and less taxing financially for our brightest and best. . Taking place at the Legendary Music Hall Jazz Cafe 350 Madison downtown… Doors open at 6:30 Showtime 8:00pm. . Show your support and come out and join us..


FRIDAY begins the festivities with a very intriguging  and interesting showing featuring Detroit born Photo Artist – MILAH RENEE’ as she displays her visionists photography in her first one woman show on Friday at the TANGENT GALLERY in Midtown entitled “THERE NO PLACE LIKE : a Solo photography show by Milah Renee” .. and featuring music from Detroits own  Soulful Vocalist/ Songwriter DOMINICK SHELTON performing cuts from his debut EP, “LOVE/FREEDOM” Doors open at 7:00pm..

URBAN ORGANIC returns to the nightlife scene with one of the most iconic Neo Soul performers in the planet. Philadelphia Funk/Soulster BILAL will be in the Motor City performing LIVE!! Fresh from his amazing BET Prince Tribute on BET, BILAL’s performances have been a mandatory must see for Soul lovers everywhere. And with it being over a year since his last vist to Detroit, it is to not be missed.. Opening the evening will be Detroits own Soulful Princess CHARITY , and hosted by Joel “FLUENT” GREENE.. And for those feeling a more Jazzy Smooth, for Sweetest Day Saturday. Make a way over to the Key Club for an evening of Love, Peace and Praise . .. ..with Detroits own LASHAWN D.GARY  for an intimate evening of Live music. Join GARY a very talented composer, songwirter, producer and pianist, Featuring vocalist MELANIE RUTHERFORD and an all star band. for an evening sure to be remembered.. Performing songs from his debut album :”LOVE, PEACE AND PRAISE”, an album full of soulful contemporary Jazz cuts as well as praise inducing contemporary  gospel gems. .Doors open at 7:30 with food from Detroit Legendary Steves Soul Food   . .Tickets available at http://www.neptix.com and at the door. .


And rounding out an already full weekend will be SEASONS OF LOVE, a FREE annual benefit concert presented by Path of Life Enterprises and is held on Sweetest Day weekend to celebrate the contributions of local unsung community heroes who work to bring healing, wellness, and love to our Metro-Detroit region..Hosted and starring Vocalist RASHIDA JOHNSON with The Dr. Sabrina Jackson Live Radio Show to host conversations on wholeness and healing. and an awesome Line Up featuring : Alex Way, Al Bettis, Antwaun Stanley, Linen Ray, Ladon Ford, Tony Frost, Gabriel Carter, Melvin Bender, Anthony Miles Peete and a few more AWESOME surprises!!! Seasons of Love is free and open to the public, however, YOU MUST register on eventbrite.com (a free-will donation is appreciated).
